Dear Phil:

I had no idea who you were when you first came to my school, Washington Middle School in Salinas. My English teacher, Mrs. Hammons, gave me the second issue of The Winged Tiger Comics & Stories and I went home and read it. I must say that it was like no other comic that I have read before - it didn't have any violence or blood and I liked that! Then I started to see your style throughout the comic. I think it must take a very talented person to be able to draw in so many styles, clear, shaded, detailed and scribbled and for each person's face there was a style to fit them.

I love to draw and sketch animals and people from books and magazines but you inspired me to start creating my own animals and creatures. Hence, I came up with a girl with a cat's body. Sounds kinda strange, huh? Well it felt good to have a creation of my very own, so even though she may be strange in appearance to some people, to me she's a friendly cat-girl. I noticed that 2 of your sons middle names are Valentine so I figured that my cat girl had something to do with you so she is now Valentine Cat (Val for short).

I have taken your advice and spend much less time watching TV and more time reading, drawing, practicing my piano, and playing outside. I was pleased to hear that participating in art classes helps you with your SATs.

I could go on for many more pages. Thanks so much for your inspiration and knowledge. I shall write again soon.
