Dear Phil:

Hi! How is it going? It was great seeing you again at the Alternative Press Expo in San Jose, February 27th. My mom just loves the stuffed Winged Tiger she bought there. It's so cute! I had a great time at the APE, also since it was the first time I've ever been to any such event. It was a great experience. I couldn't believe I met Alfredo Alcala. I used to read his comics and look at his work when I was really little and still lived in the Philippines. He's been around for so long and his work is still popular. I hope I'm like that once I get my art work going.

You're one of the best artists I've ever met in person. When it comes to my drawings, I have to literally push myself to put even the slightest ounce of detail into it. And when I started reading The Winged Tiger Comics & Stories, the art blew my mind! I felt like I'd just fallen into a Where's Waldo book. Your work is incredible!

You're a rare artist who cares about your readers and not just because of the profit. You do what you love, regardless of how much you make, and that's what I really love about your comics. They're cute and funny and very entertaining. I believe that no one's life would be normal if they didn't know how to read. There's so much to learn about the world, and most of it you can find within the pages of a book, whether it's a comic book, a literature book, or a magazine. I support the message you try to send out to children all over the world one hundred percent. Ever since I can remember, I've loved reading. Now it seems that people are becoming too lazy to pick up a book. Even the people I go to school with don't seem to pick up a book unless the teacher tells them to, and I find that really disappointing.

I also have to thank you for letting me do a little drawing on the mural you put up at Hero's Gallery in Fairfield. Even though it seemed like a little thing, I was really honored. Now every time I go into Hero's, I look at the mural. What is it like traveling all over the world? I'd love to travel and do the work you do with other kids sometime in the future. You're a great role model. Hopefully I'll see you again and we can talk about that Filipino sitcom you wanted to create. Ha! Ha!

Enclosed is a small drawing you asked me to send with my letter. The girl holding the Winged Tiger is the main character of my own comic book, which I'm working on getting published. Her name is Noriko Ishanoru. The title of the comic is H.idden I.nnocence, R.evealed R.ebel (or abbreviated as H.I.R.R.)

Well that's all for now! Hope to hear from you soon and that your trip to New York goes well. Take care!
