Klaus Leven

Klaus Leven was born in 1960 in Recklinghausen, Germany. He learned to draw cartoons and play drums at age 12, and by 14, he formed his first band. He worked as a night guard, and as a musician for recording studios by day until he could open his own music store in 1989. For six years, Klaus drew biker cartoons for his friends and ran his music instrument retail shop, until he heard about "Cartoonists Across America and the World" in 1995. Klaus then sold his business to a partner and went to California to look for Phil Yeh and meet him in person. He found Phil in November '96. They became friends and since that time, Klaus runs the European Office for CAA together with Ruth Kleijn from Amsterdam. Klaus still enjoys drawing cartoons from the Ruhr area where he lives. He draws the industrial buildings of the coal-mining industry and also comics about a kid's life. He still plays his drums and teaches percussion.

The Adventures of Joey and Gonz

A story about a little German boy named Joey and his unusual friendship with Gonz, a funny alien from outer space. Gonz came down to earth with his strange crew in a magical flying saucer to see and learn everything about growing up as a kid in Germany.

The story begins one sunny afternoon in summer. In a small city in West Germany, called Recklinghausen, on the outskirts of the Ruhr Area, the industrial heart of Germany, best known for the coal pits.

Throughout the city, everyone was inside, either watching television or playing computer games. Everybody, except Joey. Joey was outside playing with a soccer ball. Because Joey wanted to become a famous soccer player, and because he was practicing at the time, he was the only person who actually witnessed this colorful "object" landing on earth...

This, dear reader, is only the beginning of an unbelievably interesting voyage across Germany. In this Klaus Leven comic book you will see some drawings from famous cartoonists and cartoon characters, created by German kids from all over the Ruhr Area. The Adventures of Joey and Gonz will be a comic book story with kids and written especially for kids!
