Danny DeAngelo
Danny DeAngelo is a freelance writer/artist and self-publisher, originally from Boston and now living in Florida. He majored in art at Stetson University, where he created the character "Captain Stetson" as a weekly comic strip and one-shot comic book. In addition to various commercial art assignments (such as advertisements and T-shirts), his work has appeared in G-FAN (a fanzine devoted to Godzilla), WIZARD (where he has been a winner or runner-up in several art contests for his inking skills), Best Comics' BATLEGROUND EARTH, and he currently inks covers for Ancient Studios' upcoming TRAGIC HEROES series.
DeAngelo's
self-publishing imprint, 2-D Graphics, is releasing a series
of educational comic books to promote awareness of various issues
of concern to society, with profits being donated to related charitable
organizations. The first issue in this series, CAPTAIN AWARENESS:
ASSAULT ON CAMPUS, has been published to promote awareness
of dating violence and benefits AWSDA and RAINN.
Artwork for the first issue has been donated by such comic book
greats as Brent Anderson, Norm Breyfogle, Colleen
Doran, Dick Giordano, Phil Jimenez, Dan Jurgens,
Jimmy Palmiotti, George Perez, Gordon Purcell,
Trina Robbins, Joe Rubinstein, Alex Ross,
Jeff Whiting, and Mike Wieringo. For more information,

DeAngelo recently worked on CAPTAIN GEO & GIA--a cartoon book for Florida schools to promote environmental awareness. His latest work, MAJOR IMPACT, is a new super-hero based on Captain Awareness that promotes awareness of other real-life issues. You can read it online here.
DeAngelo is also vice-president of Cartoonists Across America & The World, an organization which promotes literacy & the arts through the use of cartoons and comic books, and runs their Florida office.
